PC Grad Launches Organic Skincare Brand with an Active Lifestyle Flair
“We want this to become a lifestyle brand that not only represents nourishing your body by eating clean but also nourishing your body from the outside and what you put on it,” she said.
That’s the premise behind ALOA, the new company offering a line of organic skincare products from self-described fitness and health junkie Sarah Clifford.
The PC Grad, who graduated in 2006, has undertaken this new venture based on her belief that the products that people use on their skin should be safe, clean and as natural as possible for the health of their skin.
Clifford co-founded @YourGymGF, an online fitness community, in 2012, and would participate in events such as fitness retreats. She was known to use clean products on her skin, and when people kept asking what she was using, she decided to start ALOA.
When tragedy struck and she lost her brother in a car accident in 2011 at the age of 25, she turned to health and fitness to help get through the hard times and keep her head above water. She took motivation from positive people around her to keep a positive mindset.
A year later, her mother was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and had to go through intense chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While her mother was also into fitness and is doing great now, Clifford believes the stress of losing her son impacted her mother’s health.
Both experiences caused Clifford to re-evaluate her life and realize that life is short. She decided she should do what she really wanted to do while also making an impact on others.
“Those events made me want to share fitness, nutrition, ways of taking care of yourself,” she said, “but also to do things I really enjoy doing in life that make me happy but also in turn help other people at the same time.”
Tell us About Your Products!
ALOA began with Aloe Vera Mist, which is Sarah’s personal favorite. It has been part of her regimen for quite sometime and fulfills a cascade of needs when it comes to skincare. Why you might ask?
The everyday superhero woman can handle multiple tasks within a day from driving the kids to 4 different activities, getting in a workout, preparing meals for the family, and somehow working a side gig or full time job. And although we all want to look like Jennifer Aniston at the age of almost 50, it’s just sometimes not in our deck of cards for that day. Yes. Life is unfair.
Especially when you finally get that wonderful “five minute window” while the kids are eating breakfast to sprint to the bathroom and do a tornado makeup routine and then realize an hour later it’s melting with sweat from all the hustle of unending activities. Or..we don’t even have time for makeup in the first place but prefer not to stare in the mirror at the dark circles and dull morning skin.
The solution? A handy bottle of a face mist!
We get it. Enough is enough with the seven steps of skincare? Who has time for that ish anyways!? And how do we even know what to buy with 5 billion products staring us down as we power walk through the cosmetic aisle at Target?
Look at it this way. A face mist can act as a cleanser, toner, super hydrator, moisturizer (magic for people with oily skin), blemish fighter, and makeup setting spray all in one. It’s packed with nutrients to help retain moisture in your skin and help your other products absorb better too.
It’s like a magical way to freshen up your skin without hanging over a sink and fishing for a hand towel in some weird bathroom.
And that’s not all ALOA offers their customers. They recently launched a vegan hyaluronic serum, which is like giving your face a big glass of water with every application. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water but feels light on your skin with zero residues. The ALOA HA provides intense hydration, improving an uneven skin tone, plumping and firming the skin, reducing appearance of fine lie and wrinkles while promoting a youthful glowing complexion. Works best when applied before makeup for a smooth skin surface.
Oh and the charcoal buzz? She’s got that covered too with a delicious smelling Activated Charcoal Wash that helps to revive pores and remove impurities with a succulent blend of organic extracts and powerful bacteria-fighting agents.
And last but not least, she won’t leave you hanging with crow’s feet around your eye area. ALOA offers a creamy, organic serum that is a powerful weapon for targeting fine lines and sun-damaged skin. A vitamin enriched formula infused with evening primrose and borage seed. These oils contain concentrated sources of Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties. GLA also helps retain moisture and allow skin to stay supple and flexible. Studies have proven that GLA can reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which is helpful particularly for mature skin as it begins to dry out with age. Restore your natural moisture balance for a bright and youthful complexion.
